Economic Development
Economic Development helps the States achieve its aim of enhancing the performance of the Island’s economy, so that the people of Jersey continue to enjoy a high standard of living and sufficient jobs are provided for the Island’s workforce.
The Department works closely with the Island’s established industries to agree plans for future development and it identifies and analyses opportunities for economic diversification.
Alongside the strategic aims and objectives, the Department provides a range of services and undertake a range of regulatory functions. Businesses can access further information on the Jersey Enterprise website.

Inshore Safety Regulations Public Consultation (Closes 10 November 2008)
(Opens in a new window) The purpose of this consultation is to draw attention to the proposed replacement of the existing Boat and Surf Riding (Control) Regulations with a new simpler set of Inshore Safety Regulations. To seek comment on the proposed changes as they would particularly affect local small boat and beach activities.

Training and Skills Development The Jersey Enterprise team works with Jersey employers and employees to raise skills levels and improve business performance and productivity. Jersey Enterprise Jersey Enterprise is tasked by the States of Jersey Economic Development Department to grow the economy by assisting Jersey entrepreneurs and businesses succeed and encouraging new investment into Jersey. Jersey Enterprise provides all entrepreneurs and businesses a single point of contact for all business enquiries and a range of high quality information, advice and support Marketing Economic Development is responsible for a wide range of marketing activities from supporting the visitor economy through Jersey Tourism to working in partnership with Jersey Harbours and Jersey Airport to encourage new air and sea services. It also continues to work closely with Jersey Finance Limited in the promotion of Jersey's finance industry to a worldwide audience. Agriculture is also high on the agenda with the promotion of Jersey produce around the globe. Another activity includes the promotion of Jersey as a place to live and the benefits it can offer to High Value Residents. Policy & Regulation Economic Development is tasked to develop, implement and deliver policies, strategies and plans in support of the economic growth plan. It is also tasked with a wide range of regulatory functions which also support many of the objectives that encourages growth and diversity in the economy.
