Economic Development
Economic Development helps the States achieve its aim of enhancing the performance of the Island’s economy, so that the people of Jersey continue to enjoy a high standard of living and sufficient jobs are provided for the Island’s workforce.
The Department works closely with the Island’s established industries to agree plans for future development and it identifies and analyses opportunities for economic diversification.
Alongside the strategic aims and objectives, the Department provides a range of services and undertake a range of regulatory functions. Businesses can access further information on the Jersey Enterprise website.

Dormant Bank Accounts Consultation (Closes 27 February 2009)
(Opens in a new window) It appears that a significant number of account holders forget about or lose track of their bank accounts. Other jurisdictions have recently introduced schemes to reinvest deposits held in dormant accounts for the benefit of good causes, without taking away depositors’ rights to reclaim their money, should they reappear.

Jersey Enterprise Jersey Enterprise is tasked by the States of Jersey Economic Development Department to grow the economy by assisting Jersey entrepreneurs and businesses succeed and encouraging new investment into Jersey. Training and Skills Development The Jersey Enterprise team works with Jersey employers and employees to raise skills levels and improve business performance and productivity. Policy & Regulation Economic Development is tasked to develop, implement and deliver policies, strategies and plans in support of the economic growth plan. It is also tasked with a wide range of regulatory functions which also support many of the objectives that encourages growth and diversity in the economy. Rural Support Rural Economy (formally known as Jersey Agriculture) is a division of Economic Development. Our services include Direct Financial Support Payments, Agricultural Loans, the Glasshouse Interest Subsidy Scheme, Strategic Development and the Rural Initiative Scheme as well as dealing with general enquiries relating to the industry and the wider rural economy. Marketing Economic Development is responsible for a wide range of marketing activities from supporting the visitor economy through Jersey Tourism. It also continues to work closely with Jersey Finance Limited in the promotion of Jersey's finance industry to a worldwide audience. Agriculture is also high on the agenda with the promotion of Jersey produce around the globe. Jersey Airport Provides facilities for passengers travelling to and from UK and international airports. Jersey Harbours Jersey Harbours is responsible for the operation and successful management of Jersey’s port, harbours and marinas.
